High Risk Breast Clinic

High Risk Breast Clinic

Risk Management and Treatment

Understand your risk. 3.5 million women have a history of beast cancer in the U.S. Although most breast cancers occur in women who do not have a strong family history of breast cancer, about five to 10 percent are caused by hereditary genetic mutations.  As the first comprehensive High Risk Breast Clinic in Lane County, we offer onsite risk assessment, genetic testing, licensed genetic counseling within 24 hour of your results and a comprehensive consultation with one of our breast surgeons. If you decide to have prophylactic surgery, we specialize in hidden scar mastectomy, working side by side with plastic and reconstructive surgery colleagues to give you a piece of mind and  a sense of wholeness.

Knowledge is Power

``Chance favors the prepared mind.``

Being proactive about your health is empowering.  If you or someone you love thinks they are at increased risk for hereditary breast cancer, take action.  Contact us and experience our seamless genetic testing program.  Take your risk assessment quiz via text chat or choose to use our digital risk assessment tool onsite.  If you are a candidate for testing, we will efficiently make your appointments.  For those who have a genetic mutation, access to  certified genetic counseling within 24 hours is guaranteed and we will then make arrangements for a comprehensive OSW surgical consultation.  What do you gain? A personalized risk management plan giving you added power to stay well and have confidence. Additionally, if you carry a genetic mutation, your immediate family members will have the option to test free of charge.

Why Leave it to Chance

Develop a risk management plan.

If you carry a High Risk Breast Cancer Gene, we know that early diagnosis or surgical prevention gives you the best outcomes.  We put together a winning team that includes certified genetic counselors, breast surgical oncologists, radiologists, oncologists, gynecologists and nurse navigators.  We will meet annually regardless of whether you decide accelerated screening, chemo-prevention or prophylactic surgery is right for you.  Screening may include more frequent mammograms, ultrasounds, or MRI’s. Chemo-prevention might mean taking medicine to reduce your risk.  OSW specializes in hidden scar mastectomy (watch Kimberly’s story) to remove breast tissue before a cancer grows.  On your behalf, we stay up-to-date on screening and treatment so you can relax and live a healthier life.
