Breast Cancer Surgery

Connected and Caring for the Cure

Whether you have a benign or malignant condition of the breast we will see you through.  Breast cancer treatment is stressful and often feels rushed.  Guiding you through the process, your nurse navigator will lead you through with kindness and empathy.  Specialized clinical assistants and on site evidence-based integrative care specialists of Pacific Integrative Oncology will develop your care plan while supporting your mental and physical health along the way.  For those with genetic predisposition to breast cancer we offer a High Risk Breast Clinic to develop your personalized risk-management plan.

Shared Decisions

We are in this together.

If you are faced with a new diagnosis of breast cancer, you will be offered many treatment choices. It is easy to become confused in the sea of information which may or may not be pertinent to your situation. Helping you understand your choices so you feel in control and comfortable is our goal. Serving as a research site, we use a method called “patient shared decision making” championed by The Dartmouth Hitchock Center for Shared Decision Making. While it takes patience and extra care, the process adds value and improves your chances for success. Your satisfaction with your outcome is greater when you make decisions based on your personal needs, not your doctor’s.

Ask About Our Surgical Outcomes

We are building a culture of radical transparency.

We believe that transparency helps solve problems. Transparency is a matter of trust. If your surgeon can’t be transparent about her breast surgery outcomes then it is time to ask why. Being transparent leads to better outcomes.  For this reason, we track our outcomes through the ASBrS Master of Breast Surgery Program. If you are interested in learning more about our outcomes just ask.  It’s that simple.

Survivorship Begins at Diagnosis

Treating the whole patient not just the disease.

Survivorship begins at diagnosis, and your long-term health is important to your wellness program. Regardless of where you are in your cancer journey, the specialists from Pacific Integrative Oncology provide integrative medicine consultations. They separate fact from fiction regarding diet, exercise, and supplements that may reduce side-effects and improve outcomes.  In addition, Drs. Dunn, Niesley, and Wang examine all aspects of your health to improve your quality of life, and identify factors that may have contributed to the growth of cancer in the first place.  As naturopathic physicians, they look at every aspect of your health–not just the cancer diagnosis. Doctors Dunn and Wang provide acupuncture and Chinese Medicine consultations. For those wanting to explore their whole health, we offer a healing space to craft an integrative care plan customized to your needs.

Why Choose Hidden Scar Surgery

Minimize visible reminders.

Scars matter! Many breast surgeons can be very skilled at removing the cancer, but finding a surgeon who also prioritizes your cosmetic outcome is equally important. Drs. Henderson and Kollmorgen are hidden scar surgeons and OSW is a hidden scar center.  While many women see their breast surgery scars as an empowering symbol of beating cancer, many do not (watch Andrea’s story) Studies show that breast surgery scars significantly impact a woman’s psychological and emotional recovery as well as quality of life after surgery. Scars can have a large impact on a woman’s self-confidence, intimacy, and body image.  As part of our Wellness Promise, we treat your cancer while keeping aesthetics in mind.
